We are deeply saddened to share the passing of first responder and former Rockland resident Hershy Schwartz.
Hershy was an active member with William Paul Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Monsey Fire Dept, and Chaverim of Rockland prior to his move to South Florida where he continued volunteering in with several service organizations. He was tragically killed on Sunday during a robbery in North Miami Beach.
Hershy Schwartz was 39 years old. Rest in Peace Hershy.

Clarkstown Police units were on the scene of a one car accident in the area of Church St & Norwood Pl. in Nanuet. Nanuet FD and Nanuet Ambulance on scene. The sole occupant was transported to an area hospital by Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps

The Clarkstown Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of all drivers, passengers and pedestrians on our roadways.
The national distracted driving high visibility enforcement (HVE) campaign kicks off April 1 with a new tagline, Put the Phone Away or Pay. This distracted driving enforcement campaign reminds drivers of the deadly dangers and the legal consequences – including fines – of distracted driving.
Distracted driving is not just a thoughtless mistake. It is a deadly trend on American roadways, and it is getting worse. We must all do our part.
32,657 people died in distraction-affected crashes over the 10-year period from 2012 to 2021. In 2021 there were 3,522 people killed and an estimated additional 362,415 people injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving distracted drivers. This was an increase of 380 fatalities compared to 2020.
