New City Man Charged In Death Of Twins Left In Car

Juan Rodriguez, 39, of New City (Rockland County), has been charged with two counts of manslaughter and two counts of criminally negligent homicide in the tragic death of his twin one-year-olds who were left inside a hot car for over 8-hours on Friday.

He claimed to police that he forgot his children inside his Honda Accord during his eight-hour social worker shift at the James J. Peters VA Hospital in Kingsbridge, where he works as a social worker.

According to ABC7, He drove for two blocks before discovering the children in the back seat “foaming at the mouth” and called 9-1-
1.

Mariza Rodriguez and her twin brother, Phoenix Rodriguez, were found unconscious and unresponsive in the rear seat of the vehicle shortly after 4 p.m. EMS pronounced them both dead on the scene.

The NY POST is reporting, he was supposed to take the children to daycare, according to a neighbor.

Temple Barros, 41, told The Post the father’s normal morning routine includes dropping off his toddlers, Luna and Phoenix, at a childcare provider.

Ramapo Police Department Respond To An Assault With A Knife

On Thursday April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:27pm, the Ramapo Police Department responded to Trailside Place in the Town of Ramapo for the report of an assault with a knife. Upon the officers arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been accosted in his driveway by an unknown suspect. The victim was stabbed multiple times and removed from the scene to the hospital. Patrol officers located a possible suspect, and he was detained and brought to the Ramapo Police Department for questioning. The individual was cooperative and released from custody pending further investigation.
The victim is currently in stable condition and expected to survive. The Ramapo Police Department was assisted on scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Clarkstown Police Department, Hatzolah Ambulance Corps, and Chaverim of Rockland.

Clarkstown Police Units Were Dispatched To Affinity Federal Credit Union For Alleged Fraud

Clarkstown Police units were dispatched to 35 Bardonia Rd. (Affinity Federal Credit Union) for an alleged fraud. The two suspects exited the bank and attempted to flee, as officers arrived one of the suspects was apprehended. The second suspect, a female wearing a hat with COLORADO on it, had left the scene. Several CPD officers had arrived on scene and began searching the area for her. During this time Bardonia Elementary was advised of the search for the suspect and they out of an abundance of caution immediately went into a Lockout. The lockout has been lifted, without further incident. The female suspect has not been located at this time.
