Clarkstown Police Investigating Burglary at the Ashar School, Non-Hate Related

NEW CITY, NY – The Clarkstown Police Department are currently investigating a burglary that occurred just before midnight on Thursday, January 30th at Ashar School (360 New Hempstead Rd., New City.)

Responding officers were met by school staff who stated that multiple locked interior doors leading to offices had been forcibly opened. The suspect gained entry to the building by forcing an exterior door open. The list of stolen items has yet to be compiled at this time.

According to authorities, it appears to be a crime of opportunity with no undertones of hate. The school was not occupied at the time of the burglary and it was closed for today’s classes prior to any students arriving this morning.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau is currently investigating the burglary. Check back with the Rockland Report for updates.

Ramapo Police Department Respond To An Assault With A Knife

On Thursday April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:27pm, the Ramapo Police Department responded to Trailside Place in the Town of Ramapo for the report of an assault with a knife. Upon the officers arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been accosted in his driveway by an unknown suspect. The victim was stabbed multiple times and removed from the scene to the hospital. Patrol officers located a possible suspect, and he was detained and brought to the Ramapo Police Department for questioning. The individual was cooperative and released from custody pending further investigation.
The victim is currently in stable condition and expected to survive. The Ramapo Police Department was assisted on scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Clarkstown Police Department, Hatzolah Ambulance Corps, and Chaverim of Rockland.
Any persons with information regarding the incident are encouraged to contact the Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division at (845) 357-2400. All information will be kept confidential and can be made anonymously. Information can also be provided through the TIPS 411 platform. Rockland County residents can submit a tip via text message by texting the keyword “ROCKLANDCODA” and then their tip and text it to 847411. The Ramapo Police Department has increased patrol presence throughout the Town.

Clarkstown Police Units Were Dispatched To Affinity Federal Credit Union For Alleged Fraud

Clarkstown Police units were dispatched to 35 Bardonia Rd. (Affinity Federal Credit Union) for an alleged fraud. The two suspects exited the bank and attempted to flee, as officers arrived one of the suspects was apprehended. The second suspect, a female wearing a hat with COLORADO on it, had left the scene. Several CPD officers had arrived on scene and began searching the area for her. During this time Bardonia Elementary was advised of the search for the suspect and they out of an abundance of caution immediately went into a Lockout. The lockout has been lifted, without further incident. The female suspect has not been located at this time.
